BP has granted a three-year extension to its Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for Block 61, home to the Khazzan and Ghazeer gas fields in Oman, to the joint venture between Worley and Special Technical Services (STS). The partnership operates under the name Special Technical Services Worley Integrated Solutions (SWIS).

The original five-year contract was announced on April 30, 2018, and extended for two years in 2022. Under this latest extension, SWIS will continue supporting field development activities and delivering brownfield modifications to operational assets, including the central processing facility.

Block 61, operated by BP, was developed in two phases: Khazzan began production in 2017, followed by Ghazeer in 2020. Together, the fields produce approximately 1.5 billion cubic feet of gas per day and more than 60,000 barrels per day of condensate, with an estimated 10.5 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas resources.

The scope of work includes ongoing field development and brownfield modifications to operational assets, such as the central processing facility. Gas from Block 61 is supplied to Oman’s national grid for domestic use and serves as feedstock for Oman LNG, which operates three liquefaction trains at Qalhat near Sur with a nameplate capacity of 10.4 million tonnes per annum.

Worley will continue to lead the project from its Oman office.

Chris Ashton, Chief Executive Officer of Worley, stated:
“SWIS has worked extensively with BP to enhance operational efficiency, and this award confirms the success of that collaboration. We’re proud to support BP’s ongoing gas operations in Oman.”
