Doha, September 2024 — Saipem, a global oil and gas contractor, has won a landmark $4.5 billion contract from Qatargas, marking a major development in Qatar’s ongoing liquefied natural gas (LNG) expansion efforts. The deal comes as part of Qatar’s North Field expansion, a project aimed at boosting the country’s LNG production capacity by 2027.
The contract involves extensive offshore infrastructure work, including the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of subsea pipelines and platforms. These components are critical to facilitating the North Field’s increased production, as Qatar aims to raise its LNG output from 77 million tonnes per year (MTPA) to 126 MTPA(JPT)(JPT).
